you also might want to try plugging into a different USB port, if your computer has more than one.

ya, i would uninstall activesync and all of its related files/directories...

addremove programs for activesync
delete c:\windows\system32\rapi.dll
delete c:\windows\system32\ceutil.dll

also read this if you havnt allready

Soft Reset!!!
Also delete your partnership (PC Active Sync under File pull down),
make sure to not delete sync folder (or make a copy).
You might have to uninstall and reinstall Active Sync too.
