X50V problems syncing e-mails with attachments
Can anybody help me solve the following problem:
When I try to Sync my X50V with Outlook 2000 Pro, Active Sync freezes up when it tries to sync e-mails with attachments (word, excel and pdf files). Before freezing, it replicates e-mails, destroys e-mail subject lines... I have spent numerous hours with Dell tech support trying to troubleshoot the problem with no success. We have uninstalled and reinstalled everything, reformatted my PC, replaced the device. In short, we have tried almost everything. All else syncs just fine, and I can sync e-mails without attachments fine. I have tried limiting the attachment sizes as well as numerous other combinations and always I get the same problem. Both the old and the replacement device incurred the exact same problem. I have tried all of the above with a different PC and with a different user's outlook (same version 2000 Pro) with the same results. Clearly, this must be a software problem between Active Sync and Outlook but nobody at Dell can solve the problem and Microsoft is non-responsive. Help!!! Thanks ![]()

I am having the extact same problem with a few variations:
I have an Axim X30 (also my second one) and I am using Outlook 2003. But I get duplicate emails when I sync and the name field is blank. It also deletes some that should be deleted in Outlook. Everything else syncs just fine! ![]()

I use Outlook 2003. I sync happily with Yahoo and my cable providers email systems including attachments.
Never had any problems so not sure I can suggest anything. Try setting up a simple pop3 account (say Yahoo) and see if you can get that to work. If that works then it could be something with your email providers settings ? Dave

Active Sync Problems
It has been a few months and nobody is able to solve the problem, so I thought I would freshen up this post. Has anybody experienced and solved the problem outlined in my original post?
Thanks, Parman17 | |||

The problem is to do with the conversion of Word documents into Pocket PC Word documents. To get around the error, open up Active Sync (while logged in as the user) click on options then rules then conversion settings then Desktop to Device Click on Microsoft Word Document then edit and change the type to No Conversion from the drop down list Do the same for Microsoft Word Template. Also, try the following: Activesync stores temporary copies of attachments in C:\Documents & Settings\[User's Profile]\Local Settings\Temp\Activesync. If this gets too full it can cause problems. Emptying it can help. This seems, for me at least, to solve the problem temporarily, but it always comes back after a week or 2. Maybe some people can try it & feedback results. In the meantime I will continue researching this problem and if I solve it I will post my findings here.
