Updating activesync

If and when I update activesync on my PC to a newer version, I download it, remove the old version and install new.

What do I need to do to make sure that the current device name (partnership name) is the same? After upgrading, does the software list still come up from the add/remove box? lastly, will I have to update the syncing on my other programs that have a desktop companion that I can sync data to the device.Thanks

Do not remove the last version from your desktop pc. Just install the current version over it and it will update. This will allow you to retain all your settings and partnerships.
