Worried Can't create BT partnership on PC

OK, here's the deal: I had my X30 partnered on both my work and home PCs, using Bluetooth to connect to my work machine. Yesterday, due to a nasty virus that was lurking (I know, I know), I had to reformat & reinstall. Now, I can't re-create the partnership I had before. I've successfully installed the drivers for the BT dongle, paired the PC with the Axim and can connect on COM3, but that's it. When I install Activesync, it will not see the Axim. It's worth noting that on the X30, both partnerships still exist, and I wonder if this is the problem. Is there some way I can delete the partnership off the X30? I can't find any option to do this, but did find the entry for it in the registry, which I'd rather not mess with if I don't have to. Thanks for any help.

You don't need to remove the partnership from the PPC.

When you try to sync via the BT sync wizard, does AS on the PC see the BT device? Does the green disc spin?

If not - does the port in AS Connection Settings match the port being used in the BT configuration tool on the PC? (ie both should be COM3 or whatever)

The ports do coincide (COM3), but no, AS does not even install because it cannot (or will not) create a partnership on the PC. It doesn't seem to be detecting the Axim at all, even though the PC and the Axim have a BT pairing (according to the BT Manager on the Axim) and do communicate on COM3 (or so the ballon in tray says). I have no idea why AS cannot see the Axim, but I suspect it has to do with the presence of the existing, one-sided partnership on the PDA only. Perhaps not, but I've tried everything I can think of short of creating the partnership via USB, and then changing that partnership to BT. I may yet resort to this, but I wanted to first pick some brains here.

Well, all I had to do was create the partnership with USB first, then configure AS to look on COM3 for a serial connection, and viola! all is synced.
