Problems with ActiveSync and Guest

I am using an Axim X30 linked to a desktop running Windows XP. The PPC synced fine for weeks, but now, all of a sudden, when I try to sync it connects to the desktop and then just says "Guest" and the synronization does not take place. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync but the problem persists. I have also done a soft reset on the Axim, but the situation persists. I am running ActiveSync 3.8.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you delete the old partnership and create a new one?
If you get dead silence after breaking the speed of sound, would you be in the darkness after passing the speed of light?

Yes I did, thanks, but the next time I synced the same problem happened again.

THe only thing that would work for me when I had this problem was a hard reset.
