Question ActiveSync- Information Type Not Synchronized

Items of one or more types cannot be synchronized. Please disconnect and reconnect your device.

To review all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input you must connect to this computer via infared or serial/usb
cable.

What the hell does this mean? Everything was working fine a minute ago and now this.

I am docked in the cradle so I am attached through the USB. I can't see the errors to fix them. I tried to soft boot. I also restored the PDA from last night.

Any help would be grateful although I won't be reading this again until Monday.

I get that same error message when trying to synch my QuickBooks with DwyerTech's MobileBiz. The only way around it that I found is to uncheck all the other synch options, such as Calendar, InBox, Contacts,Files and AdvantGo, and just synch MobileBiz alone. Then it works fine.
After that is synch'd, then I go back into Options, recheck all the other ones, and uncheck Mobile Biz.

Active Synch should show you which item is not synching.

Don't ask me why, but it works.

Did you ever get an answer to this? i have an X30 and it has been working fine for 4 months. All of a sudden today, I started getting the same errors. I only sync Outlook contacts and calendar and both are giving me the problem you described. I've read several emails with people describing this problem but no solution. Live everyone else, I've upgraded activesync, reset the PDA, rebooted the PC, uninstalled activesync and reinstalled. Don't know what else to do. If you got an answer, I'd like to hear it. If not, can anyone help?

I would like to add my request to this problem. I am using Outlook 2003, and Norton Internet Security - I'm almost positive that it has something to do with Norton, but cannot find anything on the net to back me up. I would do anything to be able to sync with Outlook again. I hate to use my x50 for an overpriced MP3 player!

Map I spent 45 min on the phone with dell trying to sync notes. We tried soft reset new profile in outlook deleting and adding a new partnership. Nothing worked however i can open my pda notes in MS onenote. Somewhere in this process I got a popup asking me if i wanted to sinc with onenote. The tech was supposed to call me back Sunday nite and never did so I dont have any real solutions. I do know about one item that you cant sync and that is pocket access at least on the X5 That feature is not preloaded on the X5 Hope this helps a little.

Question

I am running Outlook 2003, and active synch 3.7.1 and have not had any problems so far. It seems that most of the people that have installed Norton IS seems to run into this problem.

Has anyone had the time to research this on Norton's site? I have seen where some have called Dell, but since I think it is a Norton issue, those with Norton IS might want to call Symantic and see if they have either a work around, or some other suggestion to fix this.

As to the original post, what was the last thing you installed before it stopped working?

NIS and AS

I have researched this issue until my fingers are bloody. I unloaded NIS and still no help with AS and Outlook2003. What may be causing the problem is that I'm using Thunderbird/Firefox and only want to use Outlook for Contacts and Calendar. I have uninstalled / installed Office/NIS/fixed and repaired Outlook, my harddrive is wearing out. I'm stunned that I can't use AS and Outlook on my great new Dell workstation with my X50.

If you have access to another PC you might try to install Thunderbird/firefox without installing Norton IS and then see if you can sync. If so, that will give you the information you will need to contact Symantic and let them know this is an issue with their software.

Sorry, that's all I have.

The way to solve this is to go to Outlook Help and use Detect and Repair. It worked fine for me. I found the answer at http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/acti.../outlookerrors which is fabulous. But it was hell until I found it.
