I'm having the same problem. It just started today. The *only* change I've made is that I installed the latest Windows security patches on my PC last night. Ever since then I've been unable to sync.

mrbranden, same thing here.
Odd thing is... I can sync with bluetooth. Go figure.
I've been a lurker here for some time but this made me register.

Hi everybody! It's my first time here.
So IT happend to me too :-(
After hard reset and upgrading AS to 3.8 works fine (how long it will?).
Removing SD, CF, SD+CF didn't work.
Will anyone solve this problem ultimately?

Folks,
New to the Axim and new to this site, but registered after seeing this thread. My Axim is new with A02. After about a week of use, I started having problems. Occasionally it just won't sync via bluetooth or USB (have not tried any other method). The activesync program acts like it wants to sync and then drops the connection. The Axim thinks that it is still syncing. The only error I see is the activesync program saying "not connected".
I can connect to and browse the computer using bluetooth without incident and the ewallet program syncs fine each time. It seems that it is the activesync program itself (Using 3.8 on Windows XP). I can fix the sync problem by going into the options and unchecking all of the options and then re-enabling them all but favorites - and I'm synching again for several hours or a day or two. Eventually it will quit again.

It's not too satisfying, huh?

No help here either Sorry
I also cannot Sync with Favorites. I tried deleting Favorites on PC and PDA. Then imported favorites back to IE. Then I copied the mobile favorites over to the PDA - still a no go when having Favorites checked to sync. As soon as I try to Sync, it crashes out on the PDA.

sync issue...this all sounds too familiar!!
I have a Dell Axim 5.
It worked fine and I never had an issue. I would sync with my desktop and all of the contacts and data would transfer flawlessly. I left my PDA in my desk one night and returned. I popped it into the cradle then suddenly I started getting error messages. Let me cover some specifics so as to help with the diagnosis.
I use the Axim on one computer only. I did not change my version of outlook or anything about my system. I only have used my Axim for syncing contacts and my calendar. I never touched anything and never changed anything on the desktop or Axim.
The error I get is
“Connected: Attention required ”
Then there is a link to “resolve items”
I click to resolve the item and it says
“Items cannot be synchronized...To view all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input, you must connect this computer via infrared or serial/usb cable.”
Well, it is obviously already connected to it via USB since that is how it detects I am putting the PDA into the cradle in the first place. I only use it through direct USB connection.
I have gone through all kinds of forums and don’t know what to do. I have gone into “tools” and clicked various things trying to remedy the situation to no avail. I keep getting the same message no matter what I try. It won’t let me resolve the items. Even when I choose to delete and go with whatever is on the PDA it doesn’t work...and I have tried vice versa.
So, any ideas?
I’ve also tried a hard reset and reinstalled the software on the desktop, same stuff happens.
Lev

My 50v with WM5 and AS 4.1 just started having some of the same problems as given here. I reloaded and hard reset and took cards in and out but it stops at synching the calendar. I deleted all the connections, uninstalled AS, re installed and set up a new connection; same problem. I don't know what to do now; can't sync at all.

So I am guessing that none of the experts out there have any ideas?? This seems to be a problem that runs rampant based on what I have seen in forums. I think we could all use help. (see my original post above about my issues and how I've tried everything)

Hard Reset to fix sync status is on the device
This is heartbreaking....I did a hard reset as a last resort. It fixed the problem. I am now fully synced handheld-->Outlook. I first, however, had to manually (UGH!) verify that all dates that were in the ax were in Outlook. This was fairly painles...still annoying. I'm now reinstalling deleted programs.
Why didn't I restore from backup? Because when I do.....I still get the "sync status is on the device" issue. I guess basically starting from scratch and synching what I had in Outlook is what made it work. TRIPLE UGH!

Yeah, I had to do that last week. It was a bit of a pain in the arse, but in the course of doing everything I have at least ended up with a pretty clean install of everything I need where I want it. I also copied all the required installation files and keys/serials etc into a folder on my PC so I can just work my way through that if (more likely when, cheers MS) it happens again.

Not too many problems at home w/ the upgrade, but at work, I have to do the following to ensure a good synce, and still allow my work network to dynamically allocate the i.p. addresses etc...
1) disable current LAN connection
2) plug in PDA to PC
3) let the 'local connection' establish and let ActiveSync start up and get to the part where it says (if applicable) your Outlook or whatever folders your synching up are not 'available'
4) enable local LAN connection again
5) hit 'retry' on the ActiveSync message referenced in #3
Maybe I had a weird situation, but at work, the Sync would not work at all with WM5 until I did this... (Before, when it did not connection as a separate network connection, it was fine).
