Synching two different x50s on one PC?

I bought my first Axim x50v about a month ago and have been steadily learning how how to tweak it to my preferences (quite a bit to know with a long way to go as I've found from this site!). Recenty, my technology-loathing girlfriend took unusual interest in my new hobby and said she'd like to learn how to use it. I jumped all over the opportunity to 'assimilate' here into my recent passion by buying her her own x50v (sounds extreme I know, but surely there are other guys who have a hard time justifying thier gadget fetish to thier significant others, yah?). Soo, she's really enjoying it, but I'm having issues keeping her ActiveSync Partnership seperate from mine. We have different device names, but when using ActiveSync my tasks keep synching into her PDA and vice versa.

Is there a way to seperate our profiles so that when we plug in it'll update our profiles individually?

I don't have an answer for you but I have a similar problem. I synch with my Axim and my wife synchs with her Jornada. We don't use separate WinXP logons so are synching with the same Outlook files. I've set my Activesync calendar settings to only synch with events in my category and for hers to synch only with items in her category. My desire is to allow each of us to delete the other's calendar events on the PPC without having the deletions trickle through to the others PPC. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Either Activesync or Outlook seems to ignore the categories.

I think you need different windows logons to do this. I say this because outlook identifies itself with the logon -> you will find all the outlook data pertaining to yourself under your login name in the documents and settings folder.

As Steinmiller said you can try to put all your tasks into catagories and just sync those catagories, you can select the specific option in the TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> TASKS -> Settings.

Cheers
Adrian

Or, you can buy XTNDConnect PC 5.2 at Handango. I believe it can sync several devices. But contact Extend Systems before you guy it, to hear if it can.

You don't need separate Windows logons. Just go to Control Panel and look for the Mail setting. Create a new profile for your gf and then the next time you sync, it will ask you which profile you want to sync to.

I did the same and this works fine. After the new mail profile is created in Outlook, everytime you sync your axim, provided, Outlook is closed, a prompt will come up asking you which Outlook profile you want to open.

The only thing that you have to watch for is when you sync, and outlook is open, make sure that the profile up is yours, bec. Active sync will automatically 'look for changes' on the outlook profile that's open. That happened to me once and I accidentally synced onto my wife's profile, which was quite painful to undo. Had to wipe her profile clean and reload her contacts, etc. from a back up file.

The other thing is that if you synced to outlook and still have your Axim in the cradle, you cannot open the other person's outlook profile without disconnecting your Axim from the cradle.

Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty painless. :)

Good advice! :approve:

One more thing to add is to make sure you do backups frequently in case the profiles get all mixed up.

Absolutely. I back up every time I sync. Adds a bit more time but the peace of mind is worth it.
