You might try reinstalling/upgrading ActiveSync (3.8 is the latest version):

Although Ii already have 3.8, I'll try to re-install.

I get an activesync window that pops up on the screen every time I start up the PC. Everything seems to sync fine, but the message says it can't recognize the device? Seems really strange.

Re-downloaded 3.8 again and reinstalled - everything seems to work fine now. Something most have gotten corrupted when I upgraded to A02.
