X50v Synchronization Error - Should I give up?
Dear all,
I can't get rid of this synchronization error that appear each time I connect my Axim! I have searched through the various threads and I believe I have tried everything:
1) Removing the SD card,
2) Hard reset and deleting all what's on the card and internal memory,
3) Deleting the partnership over and over,\
4) Reinstalling Active Sync again and again
5) Trying to get back to the earlier Active Sync before 3.8, same bozzo
6) Deleting the earlier profiles files as well as reinstalling active Sync.
At this point I don't know what to do anylonger.
Help!
Am I the only one who can't terminately handle this bozzo?
The only odd thing I noticed is that there is still 2.5 MB used on the internal memory card despite I delete all visible and invisible files, maaybe some internal stuff beyond my understanding...

What is the error exactly? Seems everyone is having active sync problems today...
Try this... it is a pain but is should give you a clean slate.
Uninstall active sync, **REBOOT**, delect the active sync directory, install active sync 3.8.0.
Now hard reset your PDA, set it up how you like it, give it a name, description etc...
Now cradle it and let active sync set itself up.
Good luck
Adrian

There was some problem with active sync and resco pocket viewer,
here is a copy of the fix from another thread, it is in a message from ephex double, in this thread (second page):
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ghlight=rescoe:
I found this fix on the Microsoft site in their user forum:
1) Remove the file named "picViewSync.dat" (If you have it) in the windows
directory on the pocket PC
2) Perform a soft reset
3) Synchronize again
If you're nervous, as I was, about deleting a system file like this, cut/paste it into your temp folder rather than deleting it. I'm now fully synchronized for the first time in days. "
this was from the X5 thread, but it might work on the X50 too.

Be aware that if it's a sync'ed appointment from e.g. Outlook that connects to an Exchange server, you'll get those errors if you're syncing a meeting that has participants that are not in your contacts.
It's a pain in the butt, but those kinds of sync errors you just have to live with. If ActiveSync has been setup to sync all appointments, it'll be there permanently until you delete the appointment.
If AS is setup to sync only x weeks back, the error will eventually disappear.

Gosh! It didn't work either, I had earlier that Resco installed and used it but I have done so many hardreset that I don't have it anylonger, I had uninstalled it from my Workstation as well and can't find that file anylonger!
Is there anything more I can try to get rid of this "Synchronisation Error" message?
I found 2 files in my computer which record the error messages but I don't understand what that's supposed to mean! Anyone can understand the below messages?

you may want to try 'fixing' outlook. in outlook under 'help' you will find 'detect and repair' you need the cd to make it work. also you could uncheck everything in AS and see if it stays connected, then add 1 thing at a time till it breaks. then you at least know what is broken.

Available 9- or 25-pin communications port (adaptor required for 25-pin communications port), infrared port, or USB port (available for Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP only)

Yeah from the error message you have typed it seems you are not running outlook 2002 which would have come with your X50v on the CD. Install it if you have not done so and it might fix your problems. You may need to re-establish the partnership again though after you do this.
Cheers
Adrian

Changing from Outlook 2000 (Outlook 99 (9.0, build 0)) to 2002 (Outlook 99 (10.0, build 2627)) did not solve it, I took note of the error messages before and after in the two error log files below. But originally I did manage to get a few synchronization done with Outlook 2000 the first 2 weeks after I bought it so it should have worked. I also tried to sync with only the contacts or only the Synchronization file selected as option but it as well just start synchronizing then gives the synchronization error message again. Does anyone know what those error codes mean when it try to sync in the below error logs?

Did you reinstall active sync and remake you link to your PDA when you upgraded to 2002?
Have you got another PC you can sync with? Basically you should try to locate the problem as to whether it is in the PC (so active sync or outlook) or the PDA.
Also what is Medusa3.8?
What antivirus software have you got?
Do you run Windows XP SP2 or any other firewall? if you are then you may need to allow access through the firewall for wcesmgr... it should have asked you at some stage if you wanted to allow this.
Maybe you should read this thread -> it is the same problem you are having but it turned out to be Panda antivirus. Here is the crux of it:
----------------------
Hi,
I really got an answer from Panda (finally!), and..
..it helps!
The best thing is: it's not even proprietary, so I can post it on the board,
so here it is:
The problem (my problem, that is) arises when you upgrade from Panda (some
older version) to Panda Titanium or Platinum 2005. There they have changed
the way Outlook scanning is performed, but did not properly deregister a DLL
.
So you have to go to http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm and download the tool
"LspFix".
When you start that tool, you will see a list of dlls, one of which is
"pavlsp.dll". CHeck the "I know what I am doing"-box (nice thing to provide
that, indeed!) and move the dll from the "Keep" list to the "Remove" list,
press finish, reboot, and ActiveSync is on the road again!
I could imagine that this tool could be helpful in other problem areas with
ActiveSync, so you might want to bookmark the URL.
------------
Good luck
Adrian

It is finally solved! Thanks a lot Adrian Knack! You made it! :approve:
That was the Panda antivirus that got updated on my workstation through our network
I downloaded the program advised to handled the faulty DLL and it solved it very easily!
Gosh I wish I would have found this a few weeks earlier! I really though I did something wrong while actually it was the antivirus update that was faulty
I wish other people having Panda will find this quick!

I think, I have the same problem, but LSPFix.exe didn't help. I deleted everything, my system failed to start network services, then I reinstalled the system (on previous installation), deleted only mail antivirus dll with the same effect (no effect).
