I've recently loaded a new copy of xp professional with sp 2 on my pc... and of ocurse, installed activesync to be used with my x50v.

I've set up a partner ship, the unit detects and syncs fine, which is great... but then a day after, when I place the unit into the cradle, the unit syncs - but as Guest only. I am sure my profile is on the pc AND the pocket pc itself... but nonetheless, everytime i connect it only recognize as guest - no prompting to set up new partnership, no syncing with avantgo, nothing.

I tried:
reinstalling activesync (uninstall, install)
hard reset pocket pc
restore the backup of current state

still no luck

anyone got any idea?

Take the Ax out of the cradle, delete the Guest partnership in ActiveSync (I'm assuming it's there), place Ax back in cradle. ActiveSync should fire up and try to connect with your previous partnership.

Do you have other profiles on your desktop as well? I have the same issue. I turn my X50v off, switch to the correct profile and it will generally work. Occassionally, I have to restart the computer to get it to work.
