Try uninstalling the previous version before installing the new version. I would even go into the program files folder and delete the microsfot activesync folder.

I'm a newbie, and a Mac user as well!
I have VPC 6.1 installed, so I tried installing v3.7and it stopped at the 92% mark forever. I then downloaded v3.8 and same thing, it stopped at the 92% mark again! I don't need much, just the ability to backup my contacts, calendar and install apps that comes in .exe format. Any help will be appreciated for all of us with this 92% error... ![]()

This 92% error is explained on the micosoft web site, I saw it yesterday... But i can't find it today... mainly because I came across it by acident.
I don't remember that there was a fix for it though... something about an incompatibility with VPC... Sorry,

You should look at the following
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/archi...p/t-64728.html http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/F...cty=US&lang=en http://www.ppcw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=7138 Seems you should be using PocketMac or Missing Sync... Cheers Adrian PS. I am not a MAC user so I really can't try any of this out and left you know how it goes. Sorry. Also I couldn't find the info on the MS website... I suspect these guys know what they are doing anyway. I do remember the MS help was just to say that VPC was not supported... it did say that is should complete eventually though... dodgy...

Try this site: http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/active...#Installation:
Point #10 might help: If you see a long pause or a failure at 91% while installing ActiveSync, look in the c:\windows\inf\ folder for OEMx.INF/OEMx.PNF (where x is any number) files that are zero bytes long. Delete all zero byte OEMx.INF/OEMx.PNF files in the folder. If any files are read only change the attribute and delete them. Reboot and then try reinstalling ActiveSync. One possible source for this problem is Norton Utilities. I have reported this issue with ActiveSync 3.5 on Windows ME on a Casio Fiva MPC-206e where I had to plug the notebook into the wall after deleting the files. Other users have seen it on ActiveSync 3.7 on Windows XP. More Info here:http://forums.pocketpcfaq.com/viewtopic.php?t=15301 ActiveSync is not hung at 92%... it is processing and under Mac emulation, it can take upwards of an hour to complete the process. I also see this 'hang' on a hardware PC at 92% but it rarely lasts more than a minute or so. I have no idea what the installer is doing right at that point, but it seems to take VPC a long time to process it. In any case, I and a number of other people HAVE been able to get their Pocket PC devices working with VPC Mac. Bruce Miller maintains a very detailed 'How-To' at http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/F...eSharing4.html

the software loads up to 92% and it hungs for maybe 20-30 seconds and then window pops up >>>"set up cound not copy the file : 'D:MS\ACTSYNC|MAIN|CORE|inf|WCEUSBSH.CAT'( copy error-1).
Please restart you computer and try again" It reaches only 92% and does not hung , just a pop message .. same thing when i load it from MS website .

Try checking the discussion at this link:
http://www.mobiletechreview.com/ubbt...b=5&o=&fpart=1 There are a couple of ideas there about trying the install with the unit unplugged, re-establishing partnerships, etc.

Hi all,
Same problem than gemmoore I found the solution, i hope..., it's ok for me now. Fist i read all forum for that problem on Internet, and i dont found any solutions. I tested that : Unplug the Usb cable on your PC 1- i read this : http://www.cewindows.net/wce/activesync3.1remove.htm 3. Editing the Registry - The keys listed below need to be removed. You can do this by running RegEdit. HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr ent Version\Uninstall\Windows CE Services HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services HKey_Users\Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services - This entry will not exist if all the above keys have been removed. But, i deleted all keys of "Windows CE" / go to editing the Registry and delete all entry with the "Windows CE" keyword. In the registry manager (regedit) / i click on "My computer", click on "edit" and "F3" to find all keywords "windows CE", i delete "windows CE usb device" too. Delete all folders of Microsoft Active sync in your program file / and C:\Documents and Settings\XXX(user)\Local Settings\Temp Next, i uninstall the PDA: Right click on "My Computer" and "Hardware" / go to Hardware manager / double click on "WCEUSBS" and Uninstall your PDA. To finish i install MsActive Sync, and my pda (Toshiba e800) as been detected and syncronized, and it's ok for me now, miracle ? Sorry for my very very bad english Good Luck .:MFTK:.
