Migrating to new PPC
I'm expecting my new Axim X50v next week and am thinking about the right way to migrate everything in my HP Jornada 560, which I'll be selling after the Axim arrives. I know I have to do a full sync and full backup of the Jornada first. But then, do I need to "erase" that partnership in ActiveSync before I install the Axim?
I guess I'm looking for a step-by-step tutorial on how to move from an old PPC to a new one, and then eliminate the old one. Is there anything I should move to the Jornada's SD card so I can load it into the Axim from there? I'm thinking of my HanDBase databases, which I don't think are synced to the PC. Thanks for your help. Barbara

Welcome to Aximsite!
If you do a full sync with your Jornada, your first X50 sync should transfer all your Outlook data onto it. You only need to delete the old partnerhip if you want keep your partnership name (in which case you'd have to change the X50 name to match that of your Jornada). As for moving programs, I'd highly recommend installing them fresh on your X50. I cannot tell you much about HanDBase databases, but in general, it should be ok to move data files (e.g., music files, ebooks, WORD docs, etc.) from one PPC to another.

"Free" WiFi at McDonalds
I took my grandson to McDonalds last night and tried the WiFi there. I believe some McDonalds have free Wifi, but this particular one was on WayPort and popped up a screen asking me how I'd like to pay. One of the options was by coupon, so I walked up to the counter and politely asked if they might have a trial coupon for the Wifi. I really didn't expect much from the shrugs I got, but a few minutes later one of the managers brought me a coupon good for one hour of access and apologized that it was all they had but the expiration date on it was 12/31/04. I plugged in the number and off we went! I don't know if the same coupon will work again; I think it was a one use thing.
While I was sitting in the McDonalds, I could also see two other Wifi connections, including one labeled "dental_office" that was likely coming from the dentist across the parking lot. Question: If I hadn't found a coupon to get onto the WayPort network at McDonalds, how could I have gotten the Axim to drop that strong signal and try to connect to a weaker one (that was possibly free)? I couldn't figure out how to drop a connection. Thanks for all your help. You are all wonderful! Barbara
