Frustrating Activesync issues
I cannot get any type of sync between my laptop & Axim X30H. It was working fine. Then nothing, the green circle lights up and it says it is connected but nothing syncs. When I double click on it nothing happens, I can't get the window that shows what it is syncing to come up. I can right click on the circle and have the option to explore. When I try to explore my mobile device I get an error message "Critical Communications Services have failed to start. Please reset your device and connect again. Well I have soft resetted, hard resetted, uninstalled (with cables not connected) reinstalled Activesync 3.7 from the orig disk, 3.7.1, & 3.8. I have also tried all the different USB ports on my laptop. The IT guy where I work brough his Axim over and tried connecting his Axim to my computer and his wasn't even recognized either. It never gets to a point where you have to set up a partnership. Any clue as to what I can try now? I have been trying some of the suggestions that I've found here & on some other boards, but nothing seems to work.

Is there a software firewall? Can you try it through IrDA?

Did you try to remove TCP/IP and reinstall it? Through the control panel, networks option.

I did a forum search for "Critical Communications Services have failed to start" and got a list of 20 threads - you might look through these and see if there's a solution.

Craxim

When not connected to the cradle open AS on your desktop and go to FILES>Delete Partnership.

Delete the partnership (Save the files0.

Perform a soft reset of your device and then put it in the cradle.

Go through the Partnership wizard.

Is it working now?
