Where else is the Device Name saved?

I started having problems with ActiveSync not connecting to my Axim. It would start the sync process (the activesync window pops up and the round, gray icon in the bottom right hand of my monitor would turn green) briefly, then the sync icon would go back gray and activesync stops responding.

I've tried a myriad of things since then: reinstalling active sync, deleting the device ID from active synch, and deleting the mail profile name from outlook. Sadly, None solved the problem.

At this point, when I put the Axim in the cradle, it recognizes it as a guest, but will not connect with the same Device ID. I get a msg. saying that that Device ID is already in use, which it's not, nd to choose another. So my question is...

Other than within ActiveSync/File/Mobile Device/'device name' , where is the device ID saved so I can delete it to start over?

Thankee

EDIT: Oh yea, Dell Tech Support said I should "just format the drive and re-install windows to avoid any conflicts." Yea, thanks for that.

Ah yes, on the Axim itself that is true. But I want to preserve the same device name so that would stay the same in that location. My problem arrises from somewhere on the side of the desktop-- at least I think.

There is a program called Resync.exe. It was useful to resolve minor ActiveSync hickup before I upgrade to WM2003 on X5.

I wonder if the information from this page: ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide Synchronization Errors might help you.

Bingo! That did the trick, thanks Rob :)

And, sorry it took awhile to reply, I had to take off for an hour and didn't try your suggestion until now. This site is so incredibly invaluable...Dell Support would've had me formatting my hard drive.

I think Rob gave the solution... It's the place the ActiveSync profiles are stored.
