activesync via IR

I was thrilled to find how easy it was to sync my laptop and x50v via IR ... then I upgraded to ActiveSync 3.8, and I can't connect via IR anymore ... I am refusing to believe it is 3.8 - it must me something I am forgetting ...
The IR link is established ... I touch tools>connect via IR, and it does NOT connect (it used to).

Did you enable it in Activesync on the PC? By default it will try the COM ports.

I thought I tried everything ... but I must not have (unless it is a sequence thing) ... anyway ... at 1am this morning, 3.8 was working fine. It is possible that I did not config the pc to look at IR instead of COM. But OBVIOUSLY, it is not 3.8 Sorry. My bad (one of many).
