I'm new to the community and have only recently acquired my Axim (used). I'm having what appears to be a common bent pin problem connecting by cable to ActiveSync. My home laptop has an IR port and the syncing works fine through it. So I got a USB-IR adapter for my desktop but I can't get ActiveSync to recognize the connection. It appears to want a defined com port rather than picking up on the USB connection.
Anyone know of a way to either map the USB connection as a defined com port, or to get AS to see the USB connection? (I'm using version 3.8) The connection itself is live and the computer knows when my Axim is presented to the IR input - it just can't do anything with it. I've worked through the trouble-shooting screens, but the "find USB" option doesn't work (I assume because it's really IR) and the option to use IR simply doesn't appear. Thanks for any help

What version of ActiveSync? Also, in ActiveSync on the Axim itself in the pull down (or in this case, the pull up, since it's in the lower left) menu, there's the selection to use IR. Once you select it, it immediately starts searching for an IR receiver. Point it at your computer and hope for the best.
It sounds like you're trying to start the sync from the computer, and you should be starting it from the Axim. Unless I'm misunderstanding.

Thanks for the input. I'm using AS version 3.8, and the problem is getting the desktop copy of AS to recognize the USB-IR connection, until it does it's not letting me set-up a connection for the Axim to use, so that when I initiate a sync the Axim can't connect. The Axim IR is working fine, and I can link to my laptop's dedicated IR port with no problems. The USB-IR connection is not being seen by ActiveSync on the laptop either. Any ideas are most welcome.
