Need Help

I recently bought a new laptop and I installed activesync 3.7 the same version that i had before. When I tried to install a new program on my axim i get the error message "unable to retrieve the mobile device information please reconnect and try again" I tried and it kept giving me the same problem. I then tried to install the 3.8 version and instead of a message the box that usually shows up when you try to install a program only shows for a split second and then nothing. Please any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

Did you install it from the CD or from a download? If you used a download, you also need R55367.exe, the USB driver for X5, from Dell downloads. It really should be installed first (before connecting the X5 to a PC) so you may need to delete the current mobile device from the PCs system hardware list before installing this driver.

I am going to bet you have a Compaq. Try using a few usp devices like an mp3 player or digital camera to make sure your usb is working on the laptop. Compaq seems to have a big problem with this. Keep us posted.
