Activesync trouble

Hi all,

Having a bit of trouble with my Activesync.... can't figure it out for the life of me.

Upgraded last week to A03 without any trouble. Syncing flawlessly until the weekend.

Today it's just not syncing right. I place the Axim in the cradle and it normally recognizes it instantly - today it takes about 5-10 seconds. Have tried this multiple time before and after soft resets.

Also tried rebooting the PC.

It's detecting the Axim and then starts looking for changes - this should only take a second or two before it scrolls down the list of syncing items..... tonight it is pausing and then tells me that it's not connected.

Now, I've done a bit of a cleanup on the PC and may have deleted some PPC programs (e.g. Monopoly etc) from the PC - could this be the problem?

Any other ideas??

Thanks again,
Scott.

You can try a few things:

1. Delete current partnership and resync. (When your device is not connected, open up ActiveSync on your PC, click on File - Delete Partnership.

2. Reinstall ActiveSync.

Moved to ActiveSync Forum.

Thanks Gigi I'll give it a try.
Will deleting the partnership mean I lose any data?

That could be the problem, ActiveSync is looking for the programs to do an update and can't find it (time delay) Check on the PC ActiveSync program if only the programs needed are getting updated. For more information about ActiveSync check here

No, you won't lose your data. The data remains just not the partnership. If you feel uneasy, just do a backup first. :)

Gigi I did a backup and have deleted the partnership... still no joy.

Do you have any other ideas apart from reinstalling Activesync?

Frenchy, I've uninstalled lots of programs on the PC that were installed to PPC via ActiveSync and have never experienced such a problem. However, it's important to make sure you properly uninstall it and not just delete the files.

So after you deleted the partnership, were you prompted to create a new one when you tried syncing? What happened?

Reinstalling AS is not very difficult. Try the latest version here.

My suggestion for a last resort would be to do a hard reset. Hopefully Frenchy will some less drastic ideas.

I deleted the partnership and then redocked the Axim.
It actually reloaded and prompted all the normal new partnership stuff but kept the same name

Then when it attempted to sync again it paused for a minute whilst looking for changes and then told me that it wasn't connected.

I already have Activesync 3.8

I agree Gigi, I've uninstalled heaps of programs from the PC without having any impact on the Syncing process.... just can't seem to work out what's happening tonight.

This is what I was refering to. Deleting files is commonly done by users (at least where I work) and they think the programs are uninstall then. I am not saying it is the case here but I wanted SBF74 to check this.

Have you try to use a different USB port.

Another thought, is the cradle connected directly to a USB port on the PC not through a USB Hub.
