Oh you flatterer you....!

Tips? Well, this is what I try to do:

1. Avoid making changes on BOTH PC and PPC side to avoid "Unresolved items." (I'm not saying you cannot make changes on both sides, but sync each change first.)

2. Sync regularly to avoid data loss.

3. Be familiar with the Settings on ActiveSync. That way, if something should go wrong, you have an idea how it might be fixed. (Keep in mind some features are greyed out when your PPC is connected. Open up AS when not connected to take a look.)

4. Be aware that when you install programs, the default location is Main Memory. Be sure to uncheck "Install program into the default installation folder" to make sure you remember to select location.

5. Remember that AS can be quite buggy and not to pull your hair our if something should go wrong!

I can't think of anymore...

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply Gigi. Just read the article. I'm a Little confused:

The article says:

1) Go to Microsoft Mobile website and download the latest version (currently 3.8).. here

DONE

2) Make sure the cradle or cable is not connected to your PC

DONE

3) When plugging in the cradle or cable it is recommended that you DO NOT use a USB hub. Plug the device directly into one of your personal computer USB ports.

MEANS PLUG IT IN NOW?

4) If you want to synchronize Appointments and Contacts between your PC and PPC, install Outlook on your PC if you haven't already done so. Outlook is on the disk that came with your PPC. (Remember that you DO NOT need to use Outlook as your mail client on your PC if you do not want to, however it is worth installing Outlook and synchronizing your data to it as it allows you to easily edit the data on your PC and also act as a back-up to your data from your device).

STEP 4 IS REALLY UNCLEAR
"...install Outlook on your PC if you haven't already done so. Outlook is on the disk that came with your PPC."

Does this mean I should install Outlook on the PC from a disk that came with my PPC? I already have Outlook, from Office, on the PC. Can I proceed?

"...however it is worth installing Outlook and synchronizing your data to it as it allows you to easily edit the data on your PC and also act as a back-up to your data from your device)."
Installing outlook where? On the PPC? Isn't it already installed there?

5) After installing Outlook and unplugging the cradle or cable it is best to reboot the PC and soft reset the PPC.

After installing Outlook where: the PC or the PPC. If the PC, from what source? I have Outlook already on the PC. If the PPC, is it NOT installed already?

THANKS,

Musb

The guide is just saying that you should not plug your device into the USB port UNTIL ActiveSync is installed. So in other words, install AS then plug into USB port to establish syncing partnership.

If you already have Outlook on your PC, you can ignore all the steps about installing it. I have heard that both versions 2002 and 2003 work just fine.

Hey there,

3) When you plug in your cradle don't use a USB hub, it works much better if you plug it into the back of the computer directly.

Before you plug it in, first install MS Outlook (which came with your Axim or Office if you own it). Then install MS Activesync. Activesync will ask you to plug your cradle in at the end and plug your PDA in and start setting you up.

Hope this helps.

you will know... S Y N C H R O N I C I T Y...

Well, now... THAT was painless!!

I'm synced, and I'm psyched! No more forgotten appointments, or printing out my calendar, or phone numbers left on the desk.

Is there any program that will let one easily scan in business cards??
