Hi, I hope someone can help me.
My wifi network works great for using the internet and checking my email, but when I try to get it connected to active sync through wifi nothing seems to work.
I've read all the postings related to this issue, and have tried everything that has been said and I have gone through everything on http://www.wifi.aximsite.com/ multiple times. but still nothing will work.
can someone please help me? this is really frustrating
Thanks

Can you ping your PC from the PPC?
Have you also looked at the Troubleshooting section of the WiFi Guide?

Which PPC do you have? I think some of the Axims with built in wireless have a ping function in their utility but, if not, you can install vxUtil. You can find out the PC's IP with ipconfig/all from a DOS window.

I have a dell X50 the middle version thats 520MHZ
I installed the vxUtil program and tried it. Im not sure if i did it correctly but I put in my computers name and told it to ping. this is what it shows
Start Ping TRUNKS[192.168.0.5]
1 192.168.0.5 RTT=1ms sz=32 TTL= 128
2 (same as above)
3 (same as above)
4 (same as above)
5 (same as above)
Stop: Total 5, Good 5, Bad 0
Since then i've tried fiddling with a couple more settings but still it wont sync

It's a good sign that the ping worked and even better that it worked with the name. My best guess is that it's a firewall problem. Are you running any (including the one with WinXP SP2)?

I read about that from http://www.wifi.aximsite.com/
The only firewall that i am aware of is the win XP SP2. I followed the instructions on the website and disabled it for the active sync program. I also tried restoring it the firewall to default settings, and disabling the firewall completly, I also tried opening all the ports that were listed on the websites in the microsoft firewall settings. None of these things did anything.
my computer is conceted to the internet with dsl through a router, could this possibly be the cause of the problem?

Reset the firewall to the defaults and then try connecting. The firewall should detect the connection attempt and ask if you want to give it access.

I have active sync 3.7.1
I tried restored the microsoft XP firewall to factory default, i opened active sync, the firewall asked me if i wanted to block or unblock the program, I chose to unblock the program. after that i had the active sync program open on my computer, and i pressed sync on my Dell x50. it tries to connect for 2-3 seconds and then pops up this message. "Communications Error- cannot start communications with the desktop computer Reconnect your devise. If the problem persists, see microsoft active sync help"
I double and triple checked again. the settings on my dell x50 and my computer are exactly the same as what http://www.wifi.aximsite.com/ tells you to do.
sorry for all the trouble, I really appreciate the help.

Check Chris De Herrera's ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide for the program "Resync." It has helped me the couple of times I've gotten that message. I don't really have a lot of confidence it will help in your case but it's worth a shot. You might also look around De Herrera's site for other possible clues. It's the best site on the web for ActiveSync problems.

Resync did not really do anything
I didn't really find much information relavant to my problem in the trouble shooting guide. I did try a couple of the things that i saw that might be relavant but still nothing works.

On your active sync settings, do you have your settings set for the wireless, such as sync manually?

The opinions expressed above are not necessarily the opinions of management and in fact may be the opposite of that intended in order to confuse and obfuscate trolling readers.

I'm pretty sure i have it setup for the wireless. I have it set up exactly like http://www.wifi.aximsite.com/ says to do it.
quick question, under the options of active sync in my pcc, should I put something in for the server synchronization?

surftrunks99 -- it wont make you feel any better but I & others have the same issue. its not you! on ipaqsite the same problems come up. 3.7.1 - 3.8 - 4.0 !
no - server options are for exchange (which i use & sync to fine, even remotely! )
i posted this via wifi but can't sync :(
i suspect firewall issues since even w/ it off ports 990,999&5679 show closed w/ nmap
