Active Sync...no partnership prompt
Hello,

I cannot get "connected" by achieving a partnership screen when I am re-installing active sync from the companion cd or on the newer 3.8 version. After the Found new hardware" screen Stating "Dell Axim USB Sync" I keep looping the "Get connected screen" and do not get the New partnership prompt.

I have had my Ax for three years and never had a problem with it like this, but even the IT folks here at work could not help me.

We even upgraded my Windows 2000 to XP and after reinstalling everything I still have the same problem. How can I set up a partnership so I can get connected. I have done and tried all from earlier posts on Active sync but am really in a jam on this as I am lost at work without my Ax working.

If anyone has the inclination to call me PM me and I will send you my phone number Thanks for any help/replys!

While the PPC is not in the cradle open ActiveSync > File > Delete Partnership. Repeat until all Partnership are deleted. put the Axim in the cradle and sync. It will create a new partnership based on the PPC name. Syncing should work after this process.

Make sure that you disconnect the cardle and only reconnect it when your installation of AS asks you to.

The steps I would take are:
- Delete any current partnerships (Open AS go to File>Delete Partnership, save the files when asked)
- Uninstall AS
- Disconnect cradle
- Reboot PC
- Soft reset Axim
- Install AS
- Connect Cradle when prompted
- Connect Axim when promted.

Hope this helps.

Not sure I would put my phone number on a forum - you may want to edit that out.

If you have done a soft reset then it maybe time to do the hard reset and try this again. Another member had the same problem a few days ago and a hard reset worked for him.

Have you tried it after disabling the firewall on your pc?

If so, after you have disconnected the cradle can you go to

Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager

And delete any items which are either Yellow or Red.

Then move onto rebooting your PC and the other steps.

Just a few quick questions -
- is your device charged?
- Do you have Outlook installed?

I don't have any yellow or red items showing in device manager, and yes both my batteries are charged and outlook is still working fine.

I am going to search this site for info on a "hard" reset, as this seems to be my only course now to fix it. If not I am screwed because work will not buy one and I rely on this heavily to keep appts/contacts scheduled and I cannot afford to buy another newer model. Wonder what I can get out of it at a yard sale?

Thanks all for your insight!
