Wifi Sync connects fine, syncs some, hangs
System details:
Axim X50v A03 ActiveSync 3.8 Windows 2000 I have a problem which I haven't seen looking over the posts or http://wifi.aximsite.com. My Axim syncs fine in the cradle. It also starts to sync fine wirelessly. The ActiveSync desktop application fires up and starts working. It goes through Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Inbox fine on the PC. On the Axim, it seems to lag behind by one step, so the Axim still reads that it's syncing the InBox. It might sync a few messages, but it eventually stops and hangs at this point. I've let it run for an hour without it ever continuing. Stopping the sync results in both the Axim and desktop to switch to not connected. If I drop the Axim back into the cradle it runs a complete sync just fine. Then, to make it even more interesting, it seems like the sooner I sync wirelessly after a cradle sync, the more likely the wireless sync will work. Obviously it's connecting, so I've got the firewall and network working correctly. Obviously there aren't any problems with the data I'm trying to sync because it does so correctly on the cradle. Anybody know what's going on here? Thanks.

I would try this:
- Remove all your messages from your inbox on your PC (copy them to another directory somewhere - not a sub-directoy of the inbox). How many BTW? - Resync Does that work. If so start adding your messages back a few at a time and find out which one causes the issue. What happens

I have my mail on Exchange server, so it's not practical for me to move it all off and back on. I have quite a number of messages but I'm only syncing 10 days. As I said, it syncs fine on the USB cable. It also syncs fine the first few syncs wirelessly. This leads me to believe that the actual messages have nothing to do with it. It can and does sync them, both USB and wireless, but the wireless just starts to randomly fail after some period of time.
I just synced USB, then synced with wireless twice without a problem. In an hour it'll just start hanging part way through. I also notice now that every time it syncs (wireless or USB) it says 9 messages need to be synced but nothing has changed in my Inbox.

I might have found something... I just had a situation where I couldn't sync, as above, so I read the mail through another interface. I did not delete any of the messages, just simply marked them as read. Now it is successfully syncing them! Has anyone else seen an issue with Exchange, new messages and syncing? I'll have to see if this pattern holds.

When it actually finishes the sync for me, I do get the tasks. I don't sync notes. I guess the obvious question is did you check off that it should sync them in the ActiveSync options? Are Tasks and notes listed in the "Information Type" field of the sync window on the PC? I don't think they're on by default.

No, what I am saying is that if you use an exchange server only your contacts, calendar, and inbox are sync'd to the server. Everything else goes through Outlook.
