Help restoring contacts
Hello, I really enjoy my axim and have'nt had any problems with it up untill I did a reinstallation on my pc. I backed up my pab file and reinstalled it on the pc.
I have an X5 synced up to my pc that uses Xp pro and Outlook 2003. After the reinstallation I synced up my axim and ended up with duplicate entries in my contacts and calender. The calender was no inconvenience but I wanted to clean up my contacts. My course of action was to delete all my duplicate contacts on my pc and then I deleted all of my contacts on the Axim...thinking that the next time it synced up it would copy the clean contact list from the pc. When it synced up it found and synced all the contacts but when I go into the contacts in the Axim it is empty. The other strange thing is in Outlook on the pc, under my contacts there are 2 contact headings. One has all of my contact information in it but the other one is empty. Any suggestions? Jim

First I'd backup the contacts you DO have right away
![]() Second, just copy (not move) the contacts from the second folder to the first.

Good idea about the backup...I did that. When I try to copy the contents of my contacts to the empty folder it creates a third folder called contacts with my information in it but my axim still does not see it.
I created a contact in the blank folder just to see what would happen and the axim sees it and uploads the information, just can't get the axim to see the folder with all my information in it? Any ideas. I'm stumped!

I'd be tempted to try this, delete the two extra contacts folders from outlook, delete your partnership to your Pocket PC in activesync and then connect your Pocket PC to activesync and create a new partnership. It's a little cumbersome, but this has resolved some similar issues for me in the past. Hope this helps and do make a full backup of everything before you try it.

The original problem might have stemmed from me importing my backup data into outlook on my pc and then when I synced up my axim it duplicated all the information it had, into outlook on the pc.
When I view contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, they all have 2 folders. I was able to delete the old calendar folder, but when I right click on the empty contact folder the delete comand is grey(unuseable). I still have my outlook backup from 2 months ago maybe I could delete everything on my pc and axim and start fresh? Would I have to delete Microsoft Office 2003 and reinstall it? Thanks for the replies. Jim

I am no Outlook expert but look through all the pull down menus to see if there is an alternative way of deleting this, I would also try a google search something like "delete+outlook+contact+folder"

Thanks
By looking at both folders properties, I was able to see which one was the main folder and which one was the subfolder. I had initially deleted all of my contacts in the main folder. Guess Active sync only sees the main folder so that is why it never loaded the subfolder onto the Axim.
The Fix: I went to Tools - Organize - then using folders, I was able to copy and paste all of my contacts and move them back into the main folder. Thanks for all the help. Hope this can help someone else some day.
