Well I have it on good authority that Microsoft is /NOT/ ditching Sync over WiFi, in fact they are enhancing it. The copy of AS 4.0 floating around is a development copy so people can start coding their applications to port through it. AS 4.0 will be released next week officially and complete.

Quick hint on another cool thing... Think assisted streaming media via Wifi/Bluetooth ;-)
