Can not get internet through cradle

I am trying to get an internet connection through the cradle for my AXIM. I am able to sync with active sync so that would lead me to believe all hardware is fine. The “pass through” setting in activesync does not change anything. The computer is running XP w/ SP2 and the AXIM is running PPC 2002 (Boss wont upgrade yet). We are running McAfee 8 and I have turned off all the port blocking rules with no changes. We do not use windows firewall and we have no other immediate security on individual PCs. I need to get internet on this AXIM and I am wondering what some possible problems could be. If anyone has any suggestions or has had this problem please reply or point me to some references. Thanks for helping a new member.

What model Axim are you using?? Why would you want to get on the web with your Axim in the cradle when its attached to a computer you could surf with?

First… they are X3s.

Second… Essentially, to get IMAP to sync in the cradle, we need an internet connection. To elaborate, we are on an exchange server. The server can only be accessed when you are on the domain. These AXIMs are going to be used by basketball coaches at Illinois State University. Because of the nature of their job (and many other jobs) they are going to want to sync with the exchange server while out on the road. I set up an IMAP account so when they are in an airport or something they can grab a wireless network and sync. The problem with this is that they will then have 2 inboxes. They will have their activesync inbox and their IMAP inbox. So we turn off mail sync in activesync and only use the IMAP mail box even when it is cradled. We DO NOT use the active sync mail box at all; it is too confusing for our users. But this requires a regular internet connection while in the cradle.

Go into the properties for your internet connection. Under the advanced tab there is an option you need to check that allows others to use your connection. Hit ok and then resync. Should work then.

When i go into

network conections > Local area conection > properties > advanced

The only thing there is a link to the windows firewall settings. Is that what you were refering to? We dont use windows firewall. It is disabled.
