I Cant Sync My Axim X50v With My Pc!!!

I'm using Microsoft ActiveSync 3.8 and recently, I could not sync with my pc. Upon inserting my Dell Axim x50v into the cradle, the ActiveSync wont start up automatically like it used to. But no matter, I open up ActiveSync. It synchronizes for a few seconds before disconnected with the error 'Not connected'. I failed to see the problem as I have tried everything (e.g. checking the connection, no loose cable, restart pc, delete partnership, soft reset x50v, uninstall ActiveSync, delete the profile and reinstall ActiveSync, etc). Nothing works. When I click the 'get connected', it says 'your device is not detected'. I've also been to the Microsoft ActiveSync troubleshooter help but none of the steps help. I seek help from the aximsite forum and realise that I'm not the only one facing this problem. It seems like to plague a lot alot of users but there isnt a specific help to solve this problem yet. I've also tried upgrading my ActiveSync to 4.0 but the the problem persisted. I'm guessing the problem MIGHT be with A03 ROM update with I did a few weeks ago but I didnt have this problem until yesterday. This is just a speculation. I did nothing to my Axim (I did not install any new programs or remove anything). THe problem just occured on its own. I'm out of ideas and I'm desperate to sync with my pc. Can anyone please help?

You might want to try a hard reset, but don't restore as you might be restoring back the problem.

BTW, please do not cross post. I've removed your other thread.

I had a problem where it would connect but then disconnect. So I hard reset and only use the guest partnership option. Haven't had a problem since.

As I said in another thread, I have the same problem in similar circumstances (problems started after installing ROM03 and upgrading to Activesync 3.8).
It behaves very erraticaly. Today, for instance, it connects (yesterday it would not) but the "add/remove programs" function is not working.

- Just a correction: the failure of the "add /remove programs" had to to with the firewall. That is solved now.

I came into work this morning and my x50v will connect to the pc for a few seconds, then disconnect. The error on the Axim is: Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings and try again.

But, as I said, it connects for about 10 seconds and starts to sync. I can even copy files during that time, but it won't stay connected. Everything was working fine before the weekend. Any ideas?

If you have Activesync 3.8- try uninstalling it & installing the older, 3.7.1- I had the same issue after I upgraded to the newer version, but after I went back, it's synced perfectly.

My problem turned out to be Avantgo. It didn't finish syncing one time and apparently messed things up. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and everything seems to be working now.

To install it, I had to wait until the installation was ready to install to the Axim, then insert it in the cradle--I guess if it catches it during the 10 second connect time it installs ok. Anyway, I'm syncing fine now.
