I have my Axim X30 set up with activesync on my office and home computers. In the office I have the cradle and activesync is thru the usb connection. At home, activesync is through wifi. It works well at both home and office, except the following:
At my office, WMP10 recognizes my Axim if I want to sync a music or video file from my WMP10 library. I can do a sync easily from my office through WMP10. At home though, WMP10 does not recognize my Axim at all. To sync a video or music file to my Axim at home I need to put my SD card into the card reader on my computer and then WMP10 recognizes the card and will sync. But I cannot do it via activesync at home even when the activesync program is running. WMP10 simply wont find the Axim or the SD card when installed in the Axim. I have activesync 3.8 installed.
Any thoughts please?
I dont get any notice at all. Activesync at home works fine, it is just that WMP10 does not recognize that my Axim is there. I dont know if I have some setting on activesync or WMP10 wrong, or maybe activesync via wifi does not work with WMP10 or you cannot activesync WMP10 at home and work? I dont know why WMP10 at home simply does not see the Axim or its memory card, etc. Could this be caused by the fact that my home activesync is not my primary one. My office one is the first partnership I set up and then I set my home one up subsequently.
Any Activesync/WMP10 experts can help me with this? I am trying to get my WMP10 to recognize the SD card in my Axim when I activesync with Wifi. It is interesting, and frustrating, because My Computer and Windows Explorer can see the Mobile Device when activesync is on. But if I go through WMP10, and try to see the mobile device it does not show at all. This is not my main activesync partnership. I have the cradle at work and activesync there also as my primary partnership(not sure if this bit of information is relevant, but thought I should add it.).I have activesync 3.8 installed. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply. No, it is not DRM because WPM10 will not even see my Axim or memory modules(SD Card, BIS, etc.) even before I decide what file to sync to it.
I am thinking that the first question to ask is this: Does anyone successfully sync their Axim with WMP10 through a wifi sync? And if you do, is the Wifi sync your primary sync or the second computer you sync your Axim with?
Ok, I have come to the conclusion that there is not a way to sync through wifi between the Axim and WMP10. I am guessing it is because the Wifi ends up going through the home network and WMP10 is not set up to recognize devices through a network.

I am having the exact same problem. If anyone comes up with anything it would be greatly appreciated. Using Activesync 3.8 too.
Windows Media Player 10 synchronization only works via a USB connection. Even if you intially setup everything up via USB, then switch to either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, WM will not sync via those wireless connections.
same problem here. I use the USB cradle and I have never set up any sync partnerships with any other machine. When I sync, the active sync window says that set up must be completed next to the windows media icon. When I push that button and open WM10, and press the sync tab, on the right, under the devices pull down my axim, nor any of my cards shows up. I can't figure out how to make my computer see my axim.
As a side note, I have a fujitsu USB key, and it does show up on the pull down in WM 10 and is the only item that does show up. When I browse into my computer I can see my mobile device and I can browse to my CF and SD cards. I can copy other random stuff to it, but I cannot copy media files it seems. When I try to copy over an episode of lost, it just hangs there on the convert screen for over an hour (file is 300mb). I can do music, and I can do individual pictures but I cannot do folders. It tells me that it was denied thumbs or something and refuses to copy over. I unchecked all the file properties of the source folder but no help. As another note, my CF card is kingston elite 2gb, and my SD is also kingston 1gb, and they seem to work alright in other functions.
Help! I want to watch stuff on my 1hour commute to school everyday!
Same problem here. I have been attempting to sync via the stock Axim cradle and I haven't established partnerships with any other PC.
I would like to know if there is ANYONE out there who has been able to sync music files to their Axim x51 or x51v using Windows Media Player 10.
Dell has tried to tell me that this function was never intended to work on the Axim51 and that the only way to transfer files is to use the file sync function or file explorer to transfer wmv or wma files to the Axim.
But since the Axim x51 manual itself talks about using Media Player to transfer files, this smells fishy to me.
