How do I sync Notes stored on SD card?

I have moved all my Notes from RAM to the SD card's 'My Documents' folder (a feeble attempt to reclaim some more precious RAM ). When I sync, none of the Notes from SD card get copied to my Axim. If I open the 'Notes' application I can see all the notes from SD card. If I move the Notes from SD card back to RAM's 'My Documents' then the notes start getting synced again.

How do I make AS look at the SD card's 'My Documents' folder instead of the RAM's 'My Documents' folder for syncing Notes?

If AS cannot do it then is there any workaround to this problem by which I can keep all my notes in SD but still have them synced between my Axim and PC?

This has been covered somewhere else in more depth and from what I can remember when you set up a memory card you get a file on it called "ignore my documents" and I think it is this that causes the My Docs file on your SD to get ignored and by deleting this "ignore" file you allow the folder to sync - you might be able to find it through the Ax's explorer that you use but you can definitely see it when you use a card reader.

Hope this is along the right lines and it helps - let me know.

The file 'ignore_my_docs' gets created if you don't have the 'My Documents' folder. This file basically tells the OS not to look for any documents in this drive. I don't have the 'ignore_my_docs' file on my SD card and the 'My Documents' folder does exist on SD card, so theoretically I would say that AS should be able to find the 'My Documents' folder on the SD card.

There is a 'My Documents' folder on my sd card and it still does not sync it, any other ideas? There's not an "ignore my documents" file on my sd.

As far as I know, AS will sync Notes only if it is stored in the RAM's 'My Documents' folder. So I have moved back all my Notes from SD card back to RAM.

You are correct, but there are programs that WILL sync any folder anywhere on your PPC to any folder anywhere on your PC.

My absolute favourite is MobSync, freeware:
I googled a link but can't remember where I downloaded it from
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=985

I sync multiple folders on PPC (CF,SD cards) to different folders on my PC- has been very reliable for me.

hope this helps

That is very cool!!!! :approve: Never knew about this software. Thanks a lot.

I have downloaded it, will give it a try later. The only problem is that everything is in Japanese. Hopefully, the help files and messages are in English.

No problem hope you enjoy it- this is a real treasure of a program that keeps growing on you as I hope you will agree when you try it. You probably discovered by now that it is in English (help file , etc) . The manual/helpfile suggests experimenting first before you commit yourself to full-blown syncing which makes sense, (but I personally never had an issue FWIW, works great from day 1 for me).
handy hint(???)
-well I found this useful !-: for one-time or spontaneous file transfers I aditionally set up a "mobsyncCF" folder kept on CF card which syncs to "mobsyncPC" folder on PC. If you want to transfer files over e.g. MP3's , manuals, cab files for newly installed software etc I just place them here for auto-sync next docking then distribute them on my PPC when time permits. That way you are never stuck miles away from a PC without that critical file that you forgot to copy over to your card.....

OK... but back to the original question, you can use Mobsync to sync other files and folders, therefore It can be used to sync your notes stored on your SD card to a folder on your PC, but can it actually sync those notes in a way that the show up in outlook with the other notes ?

....ahhh. OK. :)
Actually I didn't take that to be the original question , I thought the poster was asking about syncing a folder's files previously in RAM "my documents" and moving this to an SD card yet still sync, which MobSync does very well IMO. As for Outlook's notes, AFAIK this data is stored as part of the pocket outlook database stuff- tasks, appointments etc ? So I do not know how you can
1/ move this data out of main memory
2/ then sync it !!
....but there are lots of very knowledgable people here, maybe someone who knows could chime in with any corrections , additions to the above ! :approve:
