any recommended alternatives to Outlook?

I have just got an X50. I have installed ActiveSync on my home machine (W98SE) but it will not install Outlook2002 for no apparent reason.

I would like to be able to back up the various outlook parts - calendar, contacts etc - to the desktop machine, and also be able to edit them on that (one reason is to pre-populate my contacts file) using the keyboard etc.

So - can anyone recommend either a product that will allow me to do this - or some other product for the X50 that replaces pocket outlook (or whatever it's called) that will allow me the desired functionality?

Many thanks

Thanks for your prompt reply.
As far as I recall (it was a couple of days ago!), it gave _no_ error messages at all. The only oddity was one dialogue screen where it said what it was going to install and there was a big red cross next to Outlook. Prior to this it did a lot of other work - installing, I think, a newer version of the installer- and a lot of stuff presumably associated with Office, like fonts (?)

I _think_ it may be that the C: drive is a tad full - it left me with only 103Mb free.

The problem has resolved.

I revisited the problem on Friday evening.
Despite there being no evidence of Outlook on my hard drive, it did appear in Control Panel | Add remove programs - so I removed it.
I then considered removing Active Sync, but I could not find any way to do so..

I next defragmented the hard disk (always a good idea)
After that I re-installed Outlook, this time selecting custom install - and there in the dialogue it showed that it did not intend to install Outlook (!) I explicitly set it to run from the hard drive, and after continuing, the Outlook icon appeared on my desktop - and yes, Outlook finally was installed.

Not only that, I can sync the Axim to the desktop machine - Great!

This is much more like it!

(trouble is, I am now finding Jawbreaker a bit addictive...)
