Loonngg sync time

Just got a new axim x50v and not too impressed with reliability of active sync. About ready to chuck it and go back to palm (nice and simple). Any help would be appreciated.

I have active sync 3.8 installed on a windows xp desktop. All items sync okay when I drop the axim in the cradle EXCEPT files. It states that 15 files are not synced and the window minimizes to the system tray. Hovering the mouse over active sync gets the message that it is synchronizing with 807 minutes remaining. Active sync icon is rotating all the time. Files on the axim (my documents) are on CF card. Do I need to do something different than just drag files I want to sync to Pcket PC My Documents on the Main computer's desktop?
Thanks for any advice / help.

There is nothing wrong with Activesync, it is just slow.

Using activesync to transfer files is not a quick process. Go out and invest in a card reader to transfer the files. It will go much faster transfering with a reader to a card then with activesync.

Try restarting your computer if you didn't do it after installing Activesync the first time.

I had a very similar issue after my A04 ROM upgrade and restarting the computer after creating a new partnership sped things up.
Another thing to try is to open Activesync, click on option then rules and let the files on your device replace the files on your computer. How you have 15 files to sync with a brand new Ax I don't understand.

Thanks for the reply. I had it selected that desktop always replaced device files if a conflict. I just tried turning off file conversion and it worked! I have several large PDF files and perhaps that was hanging it up? I continue to play with it and see if not converting files will mess me up.
