I had to do a Hard Reset today.. After, I restored using my Sprite backup, all seemed fine ! Everything seemed to work fine..
Then I tried to sync, and all I keep getting is "Sync Error" ! :rolling:
Then I deleted and re-added the Partnership..... "Sync Error"
Rebooted PC & Soft Reset PPC.... "Sync Error"
Uninstalled & Reinstalled ActiveSync from the PC, created the partnership, and......"Sync Error"
I have an x50v, and no ROM updates to blame.. Only thing I did after Hard Reset, is to install PocketBreeze from a CAB on my PPC!
Please HELP !! What do I do now ???

How did you sync in the past? By USB or Wifi? If by Wifi, check the settings on both the PPC and PC to make sure Activesync has the box checked to allow you to connect via USB.

Always used both without a problem ! Checked the settings, and usb is checked !!
Each time, the sync starts, but ends with "Sync Error"

I didn't get much help here at this forum, (except jpmarth, thanks!), but I thought I would post the results of many hours with this problem !
Maybe, if anyone else has these issues, I can save them some time !!
Ok, after more then 3 hours on the phone with Dell Tech Support, (and I now know Abdul Intimately.. HaHa), Here are the results:
- We retried everything that I posted above, including:
* Delete & ReAdd Partnerships
* Uninstall & Reinstall AS 3.7 & 3.8, (including deleting all remains of AS found in folders & Registry)
* Tried Checking all items in sync list
* Stopped & Started all services on PC
* Disabled & Enabled Norton Firewall
* Disabled & Enabled Windows Firewall
* Ran Outlook Repair Utility
* Tried Unchecking all items in sync list
Unchecking all "Worked", and let the device sync, but this was no better then a Guest sync, which also worked !!
Then I setup a fresh copy of AS 3.8 on my laptop.. Setup a new partnership, and...... "Sync Error"
Final Result;
Dell is sending me a New x50v (Ok, maybe a not so new device), which I'm not too happy about due to the fact that my x50v is less then 5 months old..
I feel that they should give me a "Brand New" device, but I lost that battle !!
Should have it in 2-3 Bus. Days (Abdul Said)

I have come across something like this before on a laptop: it turned out that the hdd had no space left on it and this prevented the partnership from being recognised.
The only advice that I can offer is to check that you have plenty of disk space available.

Yes, I tried in both the Desktop & Laptop...Both have many gigs of storage left !!

You haven't inadvertently changed the Regional Settings by any chance? It would normally give a "Device not recognized" error, but other than a loose cable, it's the only thing I can think of.

I haven't touched Regional Settings, but I checked anyway, and all looks fine / normal !!

Ah, one more thought: check for partitions and that they have enough space if you're running XP on a shared machine.
I'm not running with partitions on a shared machine..
I'm suprised I didn't think of this sooner, but I got out my old e740, setup a new partnership, and had no problems syncing the very first time !! :)
I think it is safe to say at this point, that ActiveSync on my desktop is fine, and a problem of some kind exists in my x50v !!
What caused it ? I have no idea !!!!!! :exc:
I appreciate the help, Jogga ! :approve:

I found this on cewindows.net. The answer may be in the FAQ section (7), but without knowing your setup, I can't be sure.
Hi Jogga,
Thank You, that is a handy FAQ link !! I've tried rebooting many times as #7 suggests.. That didn't do it ! I don't use Outlook on my desktop, and have only synced favorites mainly !!
The strange thing is that with No items checked in the list, I can sync fine, or also with a guest setup !!
I appreciate your time trying to help !! And thanks again for the link.. I'm sure I will have to use it's info again !!
:)
