Losing Partnership

Hi, I need some help with ActiveSync.

I am using Activesync 3.8.0 and I when I am at the office there is no trouble at all. When at the end of the day I disconnect my PDA from its cradle and the day after I put it back activesync works OK.

However whenever I am away from the office for a couple of days and when I come back I put my PDA on the cradle Activesync will not recognise my previous partnertship and will log me in as a Guest. I know that I can delete my old partnership and set up a new one with the same Device ID but why do I have to keep doing this everytime I don't sync for a couple of days. This has happened more than once.

Can somebody help me please!

Same here. I've seen several threads from people with similar problems, but never a definitive answer or solution. Sometimes a hard-reset of the PPC helps, sometimes not.

My situation:
0. Axim x50v, ActiveSync 3.8; also MobSync (latest version)
1. Home computer with WinXP Pro, using a "power user" profile, Office XP
2. Work computer, with Win2K, Office 2000
3. Wired (USB) connection for both (original cradle at home, the Dell travel cable at work)

All appropriate OS and office patches are current

The home computer reliably recognizes the handheld.
The work computer will recognize it as Guest. Recreating the profile will cause it to work briefly (as with the initial poster), and then after a few sync sessions (sometimes just one) it is Guest again.

Interestingly, MobSync on the work machine correctly identifies the device, even though ActiveSync does not.

I am hopeful this helps someone; It has not helped me.

I would be willing to lose wireless ActiveSync if it would just work consistently.

Try logging in as administrator or an administrator account and see if that fixes it. It may need to write something that a power user doesn't have access to.
