ActiveSync for x30H & x50v on same computer??

I've ordered an x30h and a x50v from Dell...

A question arose whether or not I can have two ActiveSync programs on the same computer.

BTW, I'm an absolute noob with PDA's..these'll be my first.

Thanks,
Spets

you only need one instance of activesync on your computer. one install of activesync can handle multiple partenerships, just make sure you dont name both the default Pocket_PC

I've got 2 at the moment and it's working fine. Just make sure they have different names

I am adding a 2nd PPC too. Just to clarify what was posted about renaming the 2nd PPC--I simply need to rename the second PPC (via Start>Settings>System>About>Device ID) to something different from Pocket_PC, and then proceed to let ActiveSync form the second partnership? Thanks.

You don't even need to do that. When you connect the pocket pc to your computer for the first time it asks you to make a partnership and then asks you what to call it, it won't allow you to name two devices the same so don't worry about it. Just use unique names for them so you will be able to distinguish which is which. I personally have both an X50v and an X30h which I have setup just recently, so I know this works.

What about active sync and outlook installed on the same machine. I sync to outlook and initially my wife did not what to but now does. How would Outlook handle two completely seperate contacts and calendar items even though they are from two different Dells? Would I have to do seperate Outlooks?

I hope somebody responds with a solution; that would be helpful to us too. I don't think the two can be kept separate using only one copy of Outlook.
