ActiveSync pulling music & pic files
I thought I had a hardware problem. 312 Axim X30 had no memory. Couldn't find any big files. Turns out the memory was filled with music and picture files. How'd they get there? I deleted them. Ahhh - memory back. But then it filled up again with more music and pic files. So the next time, I deleted the folders called my music and pictures. They got regenerated - and then filled again on subsequent sync.
What's up? I can't find anything in the Dell documentation or in the ActiveSync options that talk about syncing these files.

In ActiveSync... click on "Tools" at the top, Options...
On this page, there is an area that has a scroll bar. Look in this area for an entry called "Files" and tell me if that option is checked. If it is checked, uncheck it and begin cleaning those files off of your device... If it isn't checked, can you list all the checked items here?

One other thing to check. Is windows media player open while you sync? There is a setting in WMP to sync files to PPC. I've only had it ask if I had it open when I was syncing, but I think the syncing is set from WMP and not from A/S.

gt24 - No, Files were not checked in Options
drowe - Yes, I had noticed that I had WMP open on my laptop every time it seemed to be dumping music and picture files to the Axim. I fugured that must have something to do with it (well, the music anyway), but I'd hunted around in WMP to see if I could find where to deselect the possiblity without success. Today, I had the Sync tab open on WMP when I initiated an ActiveSync with the Axim - and found the culprit in action. There is a Set up Sync button in WMP and it was set to Synchronize device automatically. I deselected that - and it seems to be behaving now. Thanks to both of you for the suggestions.
