Activesync Broke? Try these Tips.

1. Install current version (3.8)

2. While your Axim is disconnected, open Activesync and delete your partnerships under the "file" menu.

3. In Windows xp, enable "show hidden files" under folder options. Go to My Computer > C: > Documents and settings > (Current username) > Application Data > Microsoft > Activesync. Delete any profiles in the "profiles" folder.

4. If you install Activesync 4.0 (not recommended), you must delete Rapi.dll and ceutil.dll from the windows system32 directory. Rename them, reboot, and then delete them. Now reinstall Activesync 3.8.

5. If you can only connect as a guest, Check that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services key named GuestOnly has a value of 1. If yes change the value to 0 and in your next connect the partnership screen appears again

6. In Windows xp, enable "show hidden files". Make sure you erase any "Activesync" folders/entries in My Computer > C: > Documents and settings > (Current username) > Local Settings >TEMP folder.

That's it for now. I hope this helps some people, Activesync can really be a pain. Let me know how it goes.

If those suggestions don't fix the problem, Chris De Herrera has an excellent troubleshooting site at http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/t-shootactivesync.htm
