ActiveSync 3.8 install problems or do I just get another product?

OK, I give....

On a bare-metal restore, I was able to install ActiveSync 3.7.1. However, after installing other software (including ReplayMusic), I tried to install ActiveSync 3.8. It starts, copies files to Temp, and then stops. The Task manager shows is_setup and Setup.exe are running, but nothing happens after that:

1. Any fix for this. Safe mode, and deleting temp files didn't help.
2. Is there anything better out there? Beyond the PIM functions, obviously I need to have something to install software to the device etc.

I appreciate this may be one of the most ridiculous replies ever, so feel free to throw wet sponges as required, but did you uninstall 3.7 first? I think that it's probably necessary to do that.

Failing that, I'd suggest re-downloading 3.8 and installing from that file you get. Current build is definately fine, as I re-downloaded and re-installed it myself last night.

Just a couple of random thoughts from a newbie - hope it helps.

Not thtat rediculous, but yes, I did both a new download and an uninstall. I've also tried deleting temp directories and safe mode. None make any difference.

If your install progress bar stops at 92% for a while, then just leave it for about 5 min and it will sort itself out, if it isn't that, then I'm not sure

I've found it! With luck this will help someone else.

It seems ANY Applian Technologies product (Reply Radio, Replay Music, ....) does something to ActiveSync. Unstall all Applian Tech products and things work fine.

Applian Technologies also makes Replay MusiC (www.replay-music.com) and since Replay Radio was reported as a problem, I took a chance and figured this would be a problem as well.
