I don't have an answer, but these questions might help:
1. Can you connect at all? (Can you connect as "Guest" at least?)
2. Have you installed any programs since the last time you were able to successfully connect?
3. Can you try a different USB connector?
4. Can you try a different USB cable?

Yes, I can connect and stay connected and use the internet and everything. I just cannot sync. I have tried different USB ports with the same results.
I was wondering if this log can help me narrow down the culprit. Research says that there must be a conflict/change on both the computer and my Axim which is why ActiveSync won't resolve these issues.
HELP.

A nice puzzler! I still have no idea. The .log seems to says that Outlook couldn't be synched, yet syncronization was carried on for 17 minutes anyway.
Why does the log say, at the beginning, that a second instance is being created? Does that mean that ActiveSync was already running?
By the way, a similar problem (unresolved) is mentioned in another thread: http://aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=58973
And if you Google "inkstore.dll" (the first thing that was associated with a failure, according to your log), and associated files such as "inkreg.dll" and "inksync.dll", you'll find some info. Maybe some of it can be helpful.
It may be important to focus on what programs were changed/updated/installed on your PC since the last time you were able to sync.

I have found a solution short of returning my Axim back to Dell.
My problem is that I have Eudora installed. Eudora has it's own MAPI server if you are so inclined to use it. If you configure within Eudora to ALWAYS USE EUDORA'S MAPI then it replaces your MAPI32.DLL with a Eudora-specific MAPI32.DLL. This DLL is incompatible with the synchronization of Outlook with ActiveSync.
Here are your options.
1) Never use the Eudora MAPI.
2) Tell Eudora (like I did) to only use the Eudora MAPI when Eudora is running. When this is the case, you need to shut down Eudora prior to synching with ActiveSync.
3) Just only use Outlook as your client. Ewwwwwwwww NOT!
I ended up reinstalling my Office 2003 suite and slowly was able to find this culprit. My guess is taht if you have another e-mail client besides Outlook, be careful to see if it is running its own MAPI server. Always close it prior to synching. It took me weeks of searching and begging to find this out.
I hope this helps someone else in my shoes. Thanks for everyone's help here. It's been invaluable.

Time to bring this thread back to the top. I was pulling my hair out as well trying to figure out how to get outlook (ack) to sync. Eudora's MAPI also solved my issue.
Keith, thank you for posting the solution.

First off make sure Outlook is your default r-mail program...Trash merlin Mail and do this:
Open Outlook on the pc
Open the inbox
click tools tab
click preferences
click email options
put a check mark in each box BUT the top one
on replies....do not include
on forwarding....include
NO CHECK IN BOTTOM BOX
---------------------------
click mail setup tab
click email accounts
check the view or change box
this brings up another page showing the email accounts that you have set up....it should not be blank
highlight your account and click change
look very closely...this is where most errors occur...look at every word, every period
all 6 boxes need to be filled in
leave secure authentification unchecked
now click on "test account settings"
did it pass? if so...problem solved
if not, cick the "errors" tab and tell me what it says
there are several other settings but lets stop here and see if it now works...if not, we'll look further
remember to let me know!
