Newbie - multiple mail folder nightmare!

A confused newbie here

I've got a brand new Dell Axim X50v (WM2003 second edition) and I'm trying to synchronise the Outlook 2003 offline mail folders with my XP laptop.

I have something like...
Outlook
-Folder1
-Inbox
-Folder2
-Folder3
(i.e. no subfolders)

If in Active Sync I go to tools->options and select the mail folders to synchonise, ActiveSync goes off and says it's done the job (no errors). The folders and subfolders appear on the PDA - but the majority of messages are missing.

I unchecked the "To save space...", "Copy message from the last X days", and the "Include file attachmetns" checkboxes and it's still no better.

The inbox synchronizes perfectly.

What's going on?

i beleive it's the limitation of the software. it's really dumb. it doesn't check folders. hopefully the upgrade of windows mobile will fix that.
