Having used a Samsung omnia for a week, and sitting next to an iphone user at work.. I'd say the iphone is probably the second best smartphone I've ever used ... although the lack of bluetooth profiles, limitations of itunes etc means I won't get one yet...
In fact if the wifi worked properly on the Omnia, I'd buy it now!

My main complaint with iPhone/iTouch is that it isn't stylus-friendly. It's made to input from fingers only. When you have gigantic Blutarski fingers, it's kinda hard to type & text; and that's the only thing keeping it from being a pda/phone.
Agree with you PB but I got used to it way faster then typing on a K9 pad from the Blackberry Pearl. I know where and how to press with my big fingers now.

I was on a line ready to buy an Iphone. When my turn came I asked the Applestore salesperson if I could sync word documents to the Iphone and then include them in an email. The answer was no. The problem was exacerbated by the fact the the Iphone could not be used to tether to my laptop. If I am away and working on a report and I need to send it, I cannot do it unless I drive around looking for a WiFi hotspot. Having the Iphone does me no good! It will sync mp3 files and movie files but once again Apple doesn't give business what it needs.
I believe the Iphone cannot sync an Excel Spreadsheet and if you can get it into your computer via an email, the Iphone will not allow you to make entries to it and the same is true for Word files. That's not good and again the Iphone is good for the kids who want to listen to music but not for business.
I can import books into my Axim and the WM phones but you cannot with an Iphone. No pdf files either, how stupid is that?
I am sure there are third party programs but I don't want to have to deal with that. I want these function in the Operating System, because Apple is supposed to be so easy to use. I'll never own a Mac because all the good business programs are in Windows. So, who needs to deal with I Tunes.
I went to see my doctor for a check up the other day and he bought the first Iphone. He was so proud of it back then, over a year ago, and loved how he turned it on its side and the screen rotated. It took less than a second then, the other day it took about 20 seconds.
My cell phone carrier is ATT and I am due for a phone. I want to get something like the Iphone for WM6 but nothings is ready yet. I don't want the tilt. I hope it comes soon. For me, the Iphone is no answer.
I've had my iPhone 3G for a couple of months now and I find it to be a great smartphone. I just sold my X51v yesterday as I had not touched it since getting the iPhone. The overall "slickness" of the UI makes it a joy to use, and it does everything I need it to do.
No, it's not perfect and yes, there is functionality that's missing. Even with the App Store, I doubt that it will ever be the Swiss Army knife that a WM device is. But I can give my iPhone to my non-techie wife and she can use it as easily as a regular cell phone or her iPod, and that's something I couldn't say about my AXIM.
Just like with computers in general, if there's a feature or must-have application that's only available on a particular platform, then your choice is made for you. Otherwise, use what you like.
I have had my iPhone 3G for a few months and its taken some adjustments. I can sympathize with the need to work with MS docs I have the same issue. The biggest issue I have is its inability to track task and projects. Which is why I am patiently waiting for the release of Pocket Informant for iPhone.
Its not perfect but the wife and kids can pick it up and use it and play games on it without issues. So I will hang on but to be honest I use my X51v as well.
I keep reminding myself its a cell phone not a PDA, boy do I miss my Mogul.
I just don't think iphone sucks in anyway. It is smart phone for smart people. People should be a bit more careful using iphones and know first how to use it. I agree that operating iphone is a bit more critical than other phones but provides much more facilities also.
I think the iPhone is still a great phone even with its downsides. Technology is ever advancing to incorporate devices within other devices (camera, GPS). It is only a matter of time when a device comes out that can fully assimilate multiple devices within it.

Many flaws were corrected with the new OS. Cut, copy and paste is now available amongts 100 new improve features. Apple has also introduced the iPhone 3Gs and I am not upgrading to this one as the added features of the 3Gs is something nice but not needed for now. Another thing I did also lately is that I needed to buy a desktop for home and look long at the Mac Mini. Finally I did bought one and I have to admit that synching the iPhone to the MAC gives me more on the iPhone then when I was using Windows. I guess that I just got fed up with the constant rebooting of Windows due to patches and updates. It is annoying to restart dowloading stuff because M$ initiated a reboot. I still have a PC per say but the MAC is now my main machine at home. Now the only thing missing on my MAC is the equivalency of IrfanView.

Hey Frenchy! Always a pleasure to see you! Thanks for the update...I'm putting the OS 3.x on my iPod Touch even as we speak...
I'm curious about the Mac Mini...but I guess I ought not to hijack the thread subject.

Let me confirm this, New iphone sucks in no way. I see nothing with it. Some systems have been changed, this just a matter of time. Slowly people will get used to it.

Eventually Apple will have something just as good if not better than Windows Mobile. They are just spreading it our over releases. I mean they waited 2 years for copy and paste. In another 2 years, they will have something that will be a threat to WM.

Nice arguments above the thread. My vote goes for iphone. I don't say iphone is error free but it is the most stylist phone in the market. No one has come before apple with the idea of a phone completely touch screen.
