The Facebook app I have on my iPod Touch (not sure how similar this is to the iPhone's) permits users to log in/out and prevent access, just like the web-based version.
If your friend wants to lock her phone, go to Settings--> General, then on the General screen click on Passcode Lock, which will open the Set Passcode screen. She can then enter a 4-digit code, then and re-enter it when prompted.
You will now be at the Passcode Lock screen. You can change when you are prompted to enter the Passcode. The default setting, Require Passcode : Immediately means she'll need to enter the password every time she wants to use the iPhone, but can be set to 1, 5, 15 minutes or 1 or 4 hours.
There is also a nuclear feature that permits the iPhone to erase all data on the iPod/iPhone after 10 failed attempts.
Also, on the General page is a setting for Auto-Lock, with 1-5 minutes or Never as options, and a Safari setting where you can manually clear the cache, history and cookies.
