It's not the iPhone that's the problem; it's AT&T. They have yet to provide support network for MMS, so even if you jailbreak an iPhone, it's still not MMS-capable, IIRC.
I've heard that you can call AT&T and request an MMS unlock code to "activate it," but I don't remember any of the details. Try a Google.
