iLauncher 2.2 vs. Pocket Plus

I'm an owner of Pocket Plus 2.5 who missed the window to upgrade using the discount price.

Edit: Found the upgrade link for $9.95. My question still is still valid though how does iLauncher stand up against Pocket Plus, concensus of which is better more useable, better memory footprint etc.

I'm trying out iLauncher and it seems to be a capable replacement.

I'd like to find out about everyone else's opinion of PP3 and iLaunch 2.2.

btw I'm running this on a x50 (mid).

Mike

I used to use P+ along with Pocket Breeze, Contact Breeze, and Pocket Weather (plus others), and was always having conflicts. When I dumped P+ and installed iLauncher all of those problems went away.

Personally, I prefer not to have a bunch of stuff running and only use Pocket Plus. Never had a problem.

I replaced PP with iLauncher and found it to be more stable, with a smaller memory footprint, and better response time. Of course PP does a lot more than iLauncher, but other functions (close button, PIE multi-windows, etc) can be replaced, usually with small free-ware apps. With the new iLauncher it's more meaningful to talk about it as a PP competitor, especially with the new meters (but I would use Expea2 instead of the default meters). I still miss some things about PP, such as the today screen brightness slider, but nothing major, and the speed and memory increases (for me) more than make up for this.

Thanks for the replies, I posted a similar question on SBSH's forums. I understand that the opinions there will heavily favor iLaunch :)

Well, looks like I'll continue to try IL for a couple more days and purchase this baby.

not that i have used ilauncher, but pplus gave me a lot of problems (white screen of death and weird tv-like random dots and lines that only went away with a soft reset.

I dumped the P+ browser plugin for MultiIE, and browsing is significantly more stable. I still use P+ for the Today plug-in, but it'll get pitched for iLauncher in the near future.

I have tested the latest versions of both ilauncher and pocket plus.. at the end decided to keep pocket plus. it does a lot more than ilauncher and 3.0 runs just fine on my Ax.

My 6 day trial of iLauncher is all but over, I've had a good oppratunity to try it out and compare it against Pocket Plus. PP has some nice bells and whistles, which I mostly don't need. iLauncher seems small and fast. My PPC seems perky and I haven't needed to do a soft reset because of a memory leak.

I think I'm going to live on the wild side, roll the dice and plunk down the $8.95 :)

What I like about iLauncher is that it's "skinnable" :
