I have been able to download but only manually. Once I clicked the 'OK' that it could not check for updates, it would then proceed with the download. So we are still functional - just not automatically. Still holding my breath...
I agree. Still isn't downloading for me as of this morning. I tried read about the XMLTV downloading, and posted some messages on
zap 2 it, still trying to figure out.
Well I wonder what I am doing different than some of you. Every night at midnight Weblink starts and I get the error message that it was unable to check for updates. I just click OK and it starts downloading and compressing like normal. I synch over the info with no problems. I have verified that the listings are correct and fine on my Axim. I download 12 days at a time.
I am not on the home computer right now to check what version of Weblink I am running but the version of PTVL on the Axim is v2.9b of 1-1-05. At the bottom of that 'about' page, it says 'Listings Available Until Tue Oct 18, 2005." I hope I don't jinx myself...
Weblink is down. The reason some of you still see TV listing to 10/10, 10/18 or whatever is because you downloaded the data just prior to the system going down. You probably have a 14-day download. When that's done, you will be like the rest of us. No more TV listing until the system is back online.
I don't think so. When I click 'OK' after the message that it cannot update, Weblink takes off downloading all of my channels (35) and descriptions, etc. I get a new files size every day after the download. This problem started on 10/3 or so. And since I only get 12 days of listings, mine should have stopped on 10/15. But every day I see an additional day of listings (yesterday I was good up to 10/17, today 10/18, etc.). I will keep monitoring it. In a few hours, when I get home, I will post my Weblink settings and version to see if there is something different for me. I think the issue is with the PTVL site, not Weblink's ability to scrape the Zap2It site.
Now it seems that PTVL is totally dead.. :( .. guess we have to look for alternatives.. so anything else out there besides pocket tv browser?
Found this alternative, but haven't tried it yet. It's a three part process. Install the viewer on your PPC. Download data with XMLTV.exe in XML format. Convert, with the converter application to a format for the viewer and put the converted file on you PPC where you want it. Then point the viewer to the file location. For now, I'll just rely on Pocket TV Brower, but it's been on life support for a while too.
