Pocket TV Listings

I have used Pocket TV Listings to download guides for television shows for quite a while and really enjoy it. Several months ago, the forums for the program were not longer available and now this morning I see that the program developer's web site (http://ptvl.thumbsupsoft.com/) is not working. The web site being down interferes with the automatic downloading of listings. Does anyone have any information on this program? I would hate to change but will if I have to. Thanks.

after you get the error, close it but don't close the program you'll be able to update.

Yes that works but defeats the automatic overnight downloading to which I have become accustomed. When the website is down, the automatic downloading is temporarily locked up pending user intervention. Pretty minor annoyance but I would like to have it "back to normal" so it completes on its' own with some assurances that the developer is still around.

only other option you have is to get the xml listing from zap2it directly and convert to PTVL format. there are clients that would let you do that I think. but its more work.. lets hope the pocket TV server comes back online soon.

I think there are some java clients on the zap2it forum. I havent tried em out myself.. you have to go there and check it out. but like I said, I think the best thing to do now is to download listings with weblink and upload manually while waiting for the server to come back online.

This use to work for me, but this time I keep getting the error message. Under the Tools menu, there is an option to Convert XMLTV listings, so it may be possible to manually download an XMLTV DB with XMLTV.exe and then convert it. Haven't tried it yet. Hoping the web site will come back up. Would be nice if Michael would make checking for new versions an option that could be unchecked for times like this.

Thanks for the link. Not quite ready to venture there. I still use Pocket TV Browser (but it seems to be on life support also). It lacks the nice grid view for the PPC. On my Sony Clie, I do have an addon grid display app that works fine. Hope PTVL gets back on line.

Now it seems that PTVL is totally dead.. :( .. guess we have to look for alternatives.. so anything else out there besides pocket tv browser?

Well I see there are a list of folders on the PTVL site now (http://ptvl.thumbsupsoft.com/) but I don't know if that is a sign of life or death. I sure it hope it comes back or we can figure a way around the 'checking for updates' process so it will download listings automatically.

At least it's not a dead link anymore. Not sure if that's a good or bad sign.
