Controlling PC-based music from PPC

I'm new to Pocket PC's, having just bought an X3i. I want to use it primarily to control music playing through a desktop PC connected to a stereo (and play Sudoku :) ). I've been doing lots of research lately, which I want to run past you experienced folks...

While there seem to be a few PPC apps to control Windows Media Player remotely (Zerama Remote, Rudeo Control for WMP, NetRemote Pro), there are a couple music sources I frequently use that they won't work for. One is listening to Rhapsody; the other is listening to archived shows from KEXP.

It would seem that to do all these things, I need to use remote control software. Terminal Services seems a logical choice, as it's installed and free, but login is painful. For some reason, on my system it won't recognize PC names, just IP addresses. And unlike Remote Desktop Connection on Windows XP, there doesn't seem to be a way to save connection info – IP address, connection settings, login and password. Am I missing something here? Are there any other simple apps out there that will launch TS using saved connection info? I want to be able to just click on an icon to connect, just like in WinXP...

Other popular remote control apps seem to be LogMeIn, and z2 Remote2PC. Do they allow one-click connections? Or are there other reasons I should consider these instead? Or other suggestions altogether?

Thanks!

-jim.

How about VNC? VNC lets you see the whole desktop... but its a tad slow.

Is there anything faster available? I don't mind paying, as this will be my primary ap...

I've nailed down the Terminal Services login pain, and was just getting to think it would work for me. But it appears that TS won't let me leave sound at the PC?!

Still looking for suggestions...

Thanks!

I've had the following..

VNC Viewer: freeware, pretty good, no 3rd party dependence, rather slow.

LogMeIn: freeware, Login to server needed, but a little faster than VNC.

Rudeo Control for WMP: shareware, only controls WMP, better and intuitive interface, good control, easy playback.

Since you said, "I want to use it primarily to control music playing through a desktop PC connected to a stereo". I'd suggest Rudeo Control for WMP.
