1) either
2) not really
3) are you talking about the active sync backup, or the sprite agent backup

Thanks for your replies. I've now got Sprite Backup and it takes a while to do its magic but it does seem to be a pretty extensive backup. From all of the backup stories I've read about it, it's a must have piece of SW...I wish I'd come up with it!!!
I found that I did not have to remove vBar from the device but I did have to shut it down before running Sprite. Otherwise my X50v would reset.
Peter
Thats what I found too... Which meant I would have to exit Vbar every night, that sort of made the automated bit pointless... so I dumped Vbar and went back to magic button

OK. I setup the scheduled backup, and all the other options as outlined on MrKlaatu's post, and set it to do its business at 4.30am. However, when I looked at the logs I saw that it couldn't copy the registry - RegCopy failed, or something along those lines. I tried backup manually and it still had the same problem. Anybody got any ideas as to what's wrong and what I should do?
I tried doing a PC backup, via activesync, and it failed again. The message 'device closed its connection unexpectedly' appeared on the little popup on my desktop. The point at which this occured was when Sprite was backing up the registry: it just randomly stopped and went straight to the today screen. Anyone got ideas as to whats wrong?
I had a similar problem before but not with registry. It was a file called "wmweather" and sprite would just halt when it tried to restore that specific file. anybody know what the "wmweather" file is? I'm using SBSH pocket weather btw.

With Sprite Backup, make sure you go under the options > networking and enable the "Backup to PC" option (I don't recall what the exact wording is, but it's in there). Also, this works extremely well if you have the PC client installed too. I haven't had a single failure doing it this way.
Also, you can do persistent storage backups. So if you have apps stored to mem cards, you can have Sprite back those up as well. :approve:
Cheers for the info all, I tried everything that people suggested and it still just cuts out. I even tried uninstalling it, and then re-installing it and the exact same problem happens. When I looked in hte version info I see: DBMirror.exe: file not found. Could this be the problem??
Well I finally got it working, and it really does work like a charm!!! Worth every penny. All I had to do was a hard-reset. Then I cleaned the registry using Pocket Mechanic. After all that I then installed Sprite Backup and since then it's been working fine. Cheers for all the help guys.
