PocketBible doesn't work with Windows Mobile 5.0

Since Laridian hasn't posted anything about this publically, I thought I would notify the community. I have had a couple of people send me private messages about it.

PocketBible v2.030 does not work with Windows Mobile 5.0. Symptoms include not fully loading books. It will load the first few lines, but that's it.

They told me that they are aware of the issue and that they would contact me "in a couple of weeks" when they expect to have a solution.

If you are a user, I would recommend keeping an eye on their release notes section for an update in about 2 weeks.

Pocket e-Sword will work with WM 5. YOu may want to give it a try.

I use the PC version and preferr the PPC version to other handheld bibles.

Well, this (PocketBible not working on WM5) just proves that MicroSoft is the devil.

Laridian has posted a (hard to find) official statement on this issue. You can sign up to be notifed when it's fixed.

http://laridian.onlinesupportdesk.ne...=announcements

Problem for me is that I purchased the software based on a trial on my PPC 2003 device. I then purchased my x51v and PocketBible at the same time.

Agreed. Had the same problem with my new Dell Axim x51v. Called Laridian. They told me they were aware of the problem, and should have a fix in two weeks. That was four weeks ago.

I found a bible software that beats them all for free!

http://www.e-sword.net/pocketpc/index.html

You can't believe all thats available! I installed a ton of stuff on the CF card of my X51v and it runs great! Well... except when the CF card disappears! :realmad:

Anyway, the software is fantastic! :approve:

Fixed version of PocketBible has been posted to the Laridian web site (v2.031). It's not yet listed in their release notes, but if you are a licensed user, it will be there when you log in. They say the problem is with the built-in Microsoft HTML rendering component, and that they created a "work around".

Almost exactly 2 weeks after they said it would be fixed in "approximately 2 weeks".

BTW - The problem with the "free" Bible softwares is many of the most popular translations are available, since they are copyrighted (NIV, NLT, etc.)
