Organising Events

I organise lots of events which my X30 is great for helping me remember stuff but after downloading various programs for it recently I can see what a big improvement there is from the pre-installed ones.

What programs can you recommend I get to help me with the planning of events I organise. I have a terrible memory, one of the reasons I have my X30h! It's fast becoming a bit of a lifeline.

The other question I have is many people on this fab site seem to have loads and loads off apps installed on their PDA's. I have been trying not to install too many because I don't want to start having probs with it but some seem to have tons! So far, I've got - Pocket Esword, Pocket Guitar Ref 2005, Snails, Lemonade Tycoon, Pocket Breeze, Pocket Weather and NoteM.

My Ax is an X30h with a 512mb SD card.

You might want a list making program like this free one, ADB Idea which I use and love. Or there's a couple more that let you check items off as you complete them and have desktop complements:

Ilium software listmaker

Scarybear software superlist

I'm guessing that these are what you're looking for. If not, let me know. Last thing, don't be afraid to load all software onto your sd card. But you have to back everything up often, b/c when you least expect it something will happen. Be a boyscout (be prepared!).

Jazzgirl,

I guess the first question is how do you want to organize your events? As a list of to dos, or as appointments, or a combination of both? If you are looking for list type software, follow Stevenator's suggestions, they are two good ones. Of you are looking for a combination of both, I 'd suggest Pocket Informant. It will give you alot more options in your PIM software than Pocket Outlook; that is built in. Plus it will handle heirarchal tasks, alha and numeric priorities, categories for appts and tasks, links in tasks and appts to contacts, etc. Try the demos before laying out the cash to make sure you get something that meets your needs.

There are also a couple of tutorials on memory and installing programs, which might help you get the most out of your Axim.

For general events like classes, work, appts, vacation... I use Pocket Informant and just create appointments. Some people just use the built-in Pocket outlook and control everything from their today screen with Pocket Breeze and Contact Breeze. For planning events where you have a list of things to do for one event, you should try a checklist program. I use DreameeSoft Checklist Pro, check it out. Use the trials before you buy.
