The Ultimate Roundup of Registry Editors for the Pocket PC

I have been pretty busy lately writing new articles.

This time, I've written a complete roundup of ALL registry editor/viewer applications (even the most unknown one). You'll find an immense amount of new information, bug reports or just plain Pocket PC-related information in the article if you (want to) use a registry editor. On the other hand, if you don't want to use, also give it a read – it explains why you may still want to start using them.

It's available here (backup address here).

Comments are welcome.

Menneisyys, you do great work. Your summaries are always very thorough and well written.

It is a sad commentary on the PPC OS when registry hacks are integral [actually necessary] to provide users with the functions and features that creative people have found.

It must be embarrassing for M$. No, probably not, since this OS is clearly not a priority.

Thanks

Lest we forget, registry hacks programs are not limited to MS's PPC OSs.

MS's desktop OS limitations have, over the years, allowed for the creation of all manner of 'tweak' programs to better provide functions and features that are otherwise hidden or simply forgotten.

Its not embarrassing for MS and no, the usability of their OSs are not a priority for them. Profit is the priority - and like all big businesses, that is the bottom line.
Get the punters to buy a product (however flawed) and then make even more money 'supporting' it.

BTW - I've used the freeware Tweaks2k2 Lite and TRE to twiddle my PDA OS and been happy so far with the results.

After some serious testing on my Dell Axim x51v, I've updated the Registry Editor Roundup with WM5 compliance information. Also, I've added a link to an alternative PHM RE download page.
